Binghamton University Triathlon

This was one of my bigger goal races this spring.  I had finished second last year, and I had rather hoped to win it this year.  As always, a win pretty much comes down to who signs up, and someone better signed up, so I got a hard earned second, and I put in a solid effort, so I will take it.  On the bike, well... it was a triathlon, so there isn't much to say other than that it was hilly and technical and I tried to keep a strong pace that wasn't too strong...

I wound up averaging somewhere around 19.5 for a 10 mile course with almost 800 feet of climbing, which was almost identical to last year, but I felt much fresher on the run and shaved a good 30 seconds of of the closing 5K.  I wound up losing by about a minute to the winner, which is pretty much how it went down last year except we were all a hair faster overall this year!

On a side note, we packed up and drove east to Deposit and my wife (who has just joined the Mission in Motion Team) won the local 5K there, so it was actually a very solid day for us!  We are both looking forward to a big day of racing at the Binghamton Circuit Race next week, which will be my wife's FIRST ever race(s)!
